Waste Warriors Pilot Program

The Waste Warriors pilot program is underway! High school students from several San Francisco schools are learning from each other and experts about waste reduction and how it relates to climate change. If you’d like information on the next opportunity to join a Waste Warriors program, fill in the interest form.

What is the Waste Warriors pilot program?

It’s a teen-led program for teenagers with five sessions about waste reduction and how it all relates to climate change.

What will you do in the program?

  • Learn about organic waste (e.g., food), plastics, and fashion waste
  • Hear from professionals working on alternatives to plastic and single-use disposables, reducing food waste, and addressing fashion waste
  • Talk to people at Recology and San Francisco Department of the Environment about how San Francisco is handling waste today and plans for the future
  • Pick a project to work on to encourage waste reduction here and now!

Who, when, where, and how much?

  • Who can participate? Anyone attending high school in San Francisco
  • When does it meet? Saturday afternoons October 4, October 18, November 1, November 15, and December 6, 2025.
  • Where does it meet? A short walk from the Montgomery Muni/BART station in SF
  • What does it cost? This is the pilot program and this year it is free!
